Risk Management Training

On the 26th and 27th of March 2025, MNUC Heads of Department participated in a Risk Management Training session based   on ISO 31001:2018.  The training was led by Ms. Benedicata Nyambura from Signox Limited, who guided participants through risk based thinking which is a key components of Risk Management, including hands-on activities designed to help participants apply the concepts in real-time.

The event commenced with an opening address by Deputy Principal, Prof. Thomas Sakwa, who emphasized the significance of sports in fostering a healthy and disciplined society. This was followed by a powerful talk from University Counselor, Dr. Maria Nganga, who highlighted the seriousness of drug-related issues in our communities and reinforced the need for collective action in combating substance abuse. After the awareness session, students and staff engaged in friendly yet competitive matches across various sports, including handball, badminton, darts, table tennis, volleyball, and football, basketball, netball, chess. The signing was witnessed by Metropol CRB CEO Gideon Kipyakwai and MNUC Principal Prof. Zipporah Ng'ang'a. From 10th - 11th December 2024, MNUC was present at the Techno Innovation Week hosted by University of Embu. MNUC Computer Science Students, Mr. Solomon Kaniaru and Ms. Lydia Nyawira were exhibiting on use of technology in caregiving, using computing devices, sensors and networks. The students were led by Mr. Harun Kamau, a lecturer at School of Pure and Applied Science (SPAS) and Mr. Isaac Kuria the head of ICT. Implementation of Learning Management System (LMS) to facilitate Open, Distance and e-Learning at MNUC

From November 6th to 8th, Cloud Developers from Konza Technopolis were training MNUC ICT professionals on Learning Management System (LMS) in order to facilitate Open, Distance and e-Learning. The training involved preparing system administrators and support personnel for the system’s deployment and ongoing usage. Initially, Virtual Private Server resources from Konza Data Center had been identified to host the Learning Management System for Mama Ngina University College. The LMS will support eLearning, including content management, learner tracking, assessments, and collaboration.

The CEO of the Nursing Council of Kenya Dr. Lister Onsongo hosted Deans form the schools of nursing across all private and public universities in Kenya. The Universities Stakeholder’s Forum set a plat form for the nurse educators to discuss strategies for enhancing training for nurses and midwives in Kenya.
