Following the appointment of Dr. Dinah Mwinzi as the new Chair, of Mama Mgina University College on 7th June 2024, by the CS, Ministry of Education, a formal handover by the 1st Chairman of the Council, Dr. David Oginde took place on 10th July 2024. Members of the Council and University College Management Board witnessed the transfer of the MNUC instruments of governance from Dr. David Oginde to Dr. Dinah Mwinzi.
Throughout the two-and-a-half years as Chair, Dr. Oginde demonstrated steadfast dedication to MNUC and helped in the operationalization of the institution. The University College has reached new heights thanks to its strategic vision and dedication to academic achievement. Dr. Oginde left behind a legacy of the culture of integrity, honesty, fortitude, and steadfast dedication to the University College.
During his handover address, Dr. Oginde expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Chair and his confidence in the future of MNUC under the able leadership of Dr. Mwinzi. His parting shot was that he believes that the MNUC fraternity will continue upholding the institution’s values and ethos.
Dr. Mwinzi is a seasoned leader with over 25 years of hands-on experience in public and the private sector. Further, she has a robust background in promoting Public Management philosophy with extensive experience and exceptional success in planning, developing and executing strategic and tactical initiatives, Dr. Mwinzi is well-positioned to lead the University College into its next chapter of excellence.
In her inaugural address, Dr. Mwinzi expressed her commitment to building on the solid foundation laid by her predecessor. She went on to say that she was excited to work with the Council, the Management, and the entire University College community in order to continue advancing MNUC’s mission of providing transformative teaching, research and community engagement for effective service.
The handover ceremony was a testament to the University College’s dedication to strong leadership and continuous improvement. It also served as a moment to celebrate the achievements of the past and to look forward to the future with optimism and ambition.
