The Principal Mama Ngina University College Prof. Zipporah Ng’ang’a, the Deputy Principal Prof. Thomas Sakwa and the Dean of the School of Pure and Applied Sciences Dr. Makiya Ratemo on Friday 16th August 2024 joined Vice Chancellors from eight public universities and other guests in a certificate-award ceremony of the World-Bank funded KIEP-SKIES Rapid Tech Skills scholars.

The Ministry of Investments, State Department of Industry was represented by the PS Dr. Mukhwana who emphasised on the need to align training with the fast changing labour market. Other guests included representatives of the World Bank as well as representatives from the ICT Industry.

This pivotal initiative under the Kenya Industry and Entrepreneurship Project (KIEP), supported by the World Bank has been a game changer as it aims to enhance students’ technical skills and job readiness.

Over the past four months, these talented students have honed their skills in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and more, all while working on projects that address key challenges in sectors like health, education, and agriculture.

Their hard work and dedication have prepared them to drive Kenya’s industrial transformation and contribute meaningfully to our nation’s economic growth.
