On April 16, 2025, Mama Ngina University College staff and students came together to spread love and joy at Gatundu Children’s Home in a memorable Community Social Responsibility (CSR) activity. A total of 25 representatives, comprising 9 students and 16 members of staff, visited the home bearing generous donations of food supplies, basic supplies and clothing for the children. The day was filled with warmth, laughter, and a sense of togetherness as the team engaged the children in various activities including singing, games, and storytelling. A Memorable Send-Off for MNUC’s Pioneer Finalists The Finalist Farewell Mentorship for the 2024/2025 fourth-year students of Mama Ngina University College was a significant occasion, marking the beginning of a new chapter for our pioneer cohort. Mama Ngina University College was represented at the University of Embu and Lenovo East Africa Open Day by the Head of ICT, Mr. Isaac Kuria. This Forum brought together ICT Directors from all Universities in the country in a move to harness knowledge in innovative ideas. The Open Day featured interactive sessions, demonstrations and expert-led discussions on Smart Artificial Intelligence (AI) Computing devices, Data Center and Cloud Based infrastructure solutions, Best Practices in ICT Service Management for Universities and Strategies for Digital Transformation and Campus Modernization.

On the 26th and 27th of March 2025, MNUC Heads of Department participated in a Risk Management Training session based   on ISO 31001:2018.  The training was led by Ms. Benedicata Nyambura from Signox Limited, who guided participants through risk based thinking which is a key components of Risk Management, including hands-on activities designed to help participants apply the concepts in real-time. 

The event commenced with an opening address by Deputy Principal, Prof. Thomas Sakwa, who emphasized the significance of sports in fostering a healthy and disciplined society. This was followed by a powerful talk from University Counselor, Dr. Maria Nganga, who highlighted the seriousness of drug-related issues in our communities and reinforced the need for collective action in combating substance abuse. After the awareness session, students and staff engaged in friendly yet competitive matches across various sports, including handball, badminton, darts, table tennis, volleyball, and football, basketball, netball, chess. The second cohort of the KIEP-SKIES Rapid Tech Skills Program has officially commenced at MNUC, offering specialized tracks in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence as well as Cyber Security. This initiative is part of the Kenya Industry and Entrepreneurship Program (KIEP), funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry (MITI) through the State Department for Industry (SDI). The School of Health Sciences faculty led by the Dean School of Health Sciences, Dr. Ruth Mbugua met with Dr. Harsch in a bid to explore the areas of collaboration with the school to include student exchange, staff exchange, collaborative research, joint workshops/conferences, joint teaching among others. We are pleased to announce a strategic partnership between Mama Ngina University College and Studium Alliance, bringing high-quality online courses to our students and professionals in East Africa. This collaboration is part of our commitment to providing accessible, flexible, and industry-relevant education. Mama Ngina University College will be one of the first higher education institutions in East Africa to offer AI for Educators a course designed to provide educators with the skills they need to employ AI in teaching.

A vibrant week of cultural expression concluded with spectacular entertainment and the highly anticipated Mr. and Ms. MNUC beauty pageant. Central Province clinched the overall regional award, while Shalom Malika was crowned Miss MNUC and Jayke Wairia took the title of Mr. MNUC.

The 2nd MNUC Cultural Week Festival-Opening Ceremony  On February 25, 2025, Mama Ngina University College inaugurated its 2nd Cultural Week Festival under the theme "Navigating Modern Challenges through Culture and Unity." The event commenced with a vibrant launch ceremony that showcased the rich diversity of Kenyan cultures. On February 14 2025, MNUC staff led by Prof. Thomas Sakwa the Deputy Principal received Computing Equipments donated by Metropol CRB. The donation marked an important milestone in actualising the MOU that was earlier signed by the two institutions. The donated computers will play a crucial role in equipping the new MNUC ICT Innovation Lab, where students and the community will gain ICT skills and knowledge relevant to the 21st Century.

On January 27 2025, Metropol CRB signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mama Ngina University College (MNUC). The signing was witnessed by Metropol CRB CEO Gideon Kipyakwai and MNUC Principal Prof. Zipporah Ng'ang'a. This mutual partnership will aid Financial Literacy Program dubbed #JengaFuture, Certificate Verification, Supplier Due Diligence, KYE-Know Your Employee among other things. MNUC was selected to participate in a Safe Campus and Smart Education Seminar for Universities. This workshop organized by HikVision, a leading innovative educational solutions provider and integrator brought together 30 universities, in a move to support institutions in embracing smart educational solutions by using technologies that are relevant to the 21st Century. From 10th - 11th December 2024, MNUC was present at the Techno Innovation Week hosted by University of Embu. MNUC Computer Science Students, Mr. Solomon Kaniaru and Ms. Lydia Nyawira were exhibiting on use of technology in caregiving, using computing devices, sensors and networks. The students were led by Mr. Harun Kamau, a lecturer at School of Pure and Applied Science (SPAS) and Mr. Isaac Kuria the head of ICT. The exhibition was  graced by the Principal Secretary for Higher Education Dr. Beatrice Inyangala, top government officials and leading Information Technology industry players.  

On Friday, 6th December 2024, the Mama Ngina University College Welfare Group hosted its second Annual General Meeting (AGM) in TC 009. The event brought together members for an evening of engagement, celebration, and progress. Mama Ngina University College joins the rest of the world in observing the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a campaign that aims to raise awareness and mobilize action to end all forms of violence against women and girls from November 25 th to December 10 th every year.     Mama Ngina University College is represented by Dr. Makiya Ratemo (Ag. Dean SPAS) and Mohamed Ali (PSC Intern) in a week-long Incubation Leadership and Innovation Management Program for universities in the East African Community (EAC). Other universities represented include Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Embu University, Open University of Kenya, Moi University and Meru University among others. From November 6th to 8th, Cloud Developers from Konza Technopolis were training MNUC ICT professionals on Learning Management System (LMS) in order to facilitate Open, Distance and e-Learning. The training involved preparing system administrators and support personnel for the system’s deployment and ongoing usage. Initially, Virtual Private Server resources from Konza Data Center had been identified to host the Learning Management System for Mama Ngina University College. The LMS will support eLearning, including content management, learner tracking, assessments, and collaboration.

The Dean School of Health Sciences, Dr. Ruth Mbugua attended a stakeholders forum at the Nursing Council of Kenya. The CEO of the Nursing Council of Kenya Dr. Lister Onsongo hosted Deans form the schools of nursing across all private and public universities in Kenya. The Universities Stakeholder’s Forum set a plat form for the nurse educators to discuss strategies for enhancing training for nurses and midwives in Kenya.

On October 28th, the newly elected members of the Student Governing Council (SGC) were officially sworn into office, in line with Article 63(A) of the SAMNUC Constitution. The ceremony, that was held in the University College Lecture Theatre, was presided over by Principal Prof. Zipporah Ng'ang'a and witnessed by the Commissioner of Oaths Mr. Aaron Tanui  and the Head of Student Affairs and Outreach Ms. Josephine Nkangi.
