The 2nd MNUC Cultural Week Festival-Opening Ceremony 

On February 25, 2025, Mama Ngina University College inaugurated its 2nd Cultural Week Festival under the theme “Navigating Modern Challenges through Culture and Unity.” The event commenced with a vibrant launch ceremony that showcased the rich diversity of Kenyan cultures.

In her opening speech the Principal, Prof.Zipporah Nga’nga’ underscored the role of cultural knowledge in establishing solutions for modern issues such as in Primary Health Care and Information Technology. She emphasized that Cultural diversity fosters unity by encouraging mutual respect, understanding, and collaboration among people from different backgrounds, the reason we provide this opportunity for sharing our cultures.

The Guest of Honor, Dr. Emmanuel Shikuku from Kenyatta University graced the occasion. His speech emphasized the importance of cultural awareness, in personal development.  He noted that most content creators in the world today are young people in different professions hence the importance of having creative lawyers, doctors and other professionals. He asserted that cultural presentation promotes citizenship and also helps gain power and agency to negotiate challenges. Makueni County Senator Daniel Kitonga Maanzo underscored the value of being grounded culturally and the importance of leveraging our cultures and our creativity to establish solutions to the modern issues facing humanity.

The students in their regional groupings representing Nairobi, Nyanza, Western, Central, Coastal, Rift Valley and Eastern curated exhibitions that provided insights into their unique traditions, featuring displays of indigenous foods, traditional attire, artifacts and aspects of daily life. The event also featured captivating performances from neighboring primary schools, including Mutomo Primary, Gatundu, and Gachoka Primary School, Gatundu. Additionally, cultural troupes from Kenyatta University presented Kenyan communities’ dance and Borana cultural dance.

The presence of our partners, ABSA Juja Branch, Metropol CRB, ICEA Lion, Equity Bank Gatundu, Family Bank Gatundu, Hemor Afriqa, North Coast Beach Hotel, Tatu City, and Zuri Springs enriched the event.
