MNUC LAUNCHES MAMA NGINA UNIVERSITY STUDENT NURSES ASSOCIATION (MNUSNA)

The School of Health Sciences remains committed to training holistically developed students who are equipped to respond to the evolving health needs of society at the local, national and global levels. Student associations play a vital role in advancing the School’s mission and vision by nurturing leadership, professionalism, collaboration and service among students.

What began as a shared dream among passionate nursing students became a defining milestone in the history of Mama Ngina University College. Through the leadership and guidance of the Club Patron, Ms. Mary Muchiri, nursing students came together and established the Mama Ngina University Student Nurses Association (MNUSNA). The Association was officially launched on 6^th February 2026.

Mr. Dennis Mbithi, Deputy President –NNAK

Speaking at the event, Mr. Dennis Mbithi, Deputy President of the National Nurses Association of Kenya (NNAK), called on the students to fully commit to the Association and to uphold unwavering professionalism, integrity and excellence in every aspect of their training. He reaffirmed that NNAK is fully prepared to receive, protect, guide and mentor their growth from student nurses into competent, ethical and impactful professionals upon graduation.

Mr. Chrsiphine Juma -National Chairperson KESSNUR

At the event, Mr. Chrisphine Juma, the National Chairperson Kenya Student and Novice Nurses (KESNNUR) commended the initiative and encouraged the students to actively engage in leadership, advocacy and professional development through structured student platforms.

Mr. Elphas Muricho -Deputy Chairperson ICN

The Deputy Chair, International Council of Nurses (ICN) alliance of student and early career nurses, Mr. Elphas Muricho, graced the occasion and underscored the indispensable role of student nurses in actively shaping the future of the global nursing profession, emphasizing their responsibility to engage, innovate and lead within an increasingly dynamic healthcare landscape.

Mr Alphonce Ayugi

The launch also featured a presentation by Mr. Ayugi, a Nursing officer intern at KUTRRH with a strong research focus. He challenged the students to begin building their research networks early in their academic journey, emphasizing that the nursing profession is increasingly becoming research-driven. His insights served as an eye-opener to many students, highlighting the importance of evidence-based practice and scholarly engagement in advancing nursing care.

Guided by the theme, “Learning to Lead, Receiving Guidance and Passing It On: Transforming Knowledge into Care,” MNUSNA stands as a beacon of excellence, continuity and transformative impact in nursing education and practice.
